Within the framework of the Vietnam Cultural Development Strategy to 2030, in an exchange with Văn hóa (Culture) Newspaper – the official publication of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism – Associate Professor Dr. Võ Thị Ngọc Thúy shared notable perspectives on Tourism Development and Tourism Education.
“Vietnam possesses outstanding heritage values; almost every locality has a diverse heritage system. If leveraged well, when international friends think of us, they can clearly state what heritage we have and what Vietnam’s cultural values are… The three elements: Heritage – Culture – Green Tourism form a sustainable ‘tripod’ [three pillars], contributing to tourism development and enhancing Vietnam’s image on the international stage.”
Associate Professor Dr. Võ Thị Ngọc Thúy added: “To build future generations who work in tourism according to global integration trends, the culture we cultivate in our students is a respect for differences. This means they are trained to respect critical feedback and diverse behaviors within the school, creating diversity within the overall unity of the institution. Through these principles, over four years on campus, the cultural environment of the school will forge a young generation that is always proud of its identity. This becomes part of their toolkit, allowing them to be confident in global integration, alongside their professional knowledge and necessary cultural and social skills.”
Recently, Associate Professor Dr. Võ Thị Ngọc Thúy also gave an engaging presentation on the topic of “Tourism Recovery – Tourist Behavior & Lean Management.” Dr. Thúy’s presentation provided data and promising signals for the kick-starting of the tourism industry’s recovery. It highlighted an understanding of the shift in tourist behavior (89% of tourists have changed their travel psychology in the post-Covid-19 context). Based on these changes in customer behavior and thinking, businesses need to find solutions to adapt. This, she argued, is the true essence of risk management in tourism.
