On March 24, 2023, the seminar “Current State of Tourism Development in Thủ Đức City” was held. The program was coordinated by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Technology, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Thủ Đức City and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, with Assoc.Prof.Dr. Võ Thị Ngọc Thúy as the project leader.

Within the framework of the seminar, 29 topics were discussed, of which 16 focused on the current state of tourism in Thủ Đức City, including content related to tourist characteristics, tourism resources, accommodation systems, restaurants, and entertainment and shopping venues. Besides, the remaining 13 topics delved into the strategic orientation for Thủ Đức City’s tourism development until 2030, proposing breakthrough solutions to promote the sustainable development of the region’s tourism industry, meeting modern tourism trends.
At the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Võ Thị Ngọc Thúy presented the topic “Tourism Development in Thủ Đức City for the period 2022-2025, vision to 2030.” This is an important study aimed at building a methodical foundation for tourism development, creating impetus for the socio-economic development of Thủ Đức City. Commenting on the discussed content, Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Kỳ Phùng emphasized that the project has closely followed the implementation schedule registered with the Department of Science and Technology, while also deeply analyzing the current state of tourism in Thủ Đức City, thereby proposing strategies suitable for the potential and advantages of the area.
The Thủ Đức City tourism development project holds significant meaning in the context of the city’s ongoing transformation into an economic, intellectual, and technological hub of Ho Chi Minh City. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Thủ Đức City’s tourism has shown many bright spots as domestic and international tourism activities gradually recover. This is a crucial time for the city to redefine its development strategy, leveraging its geographical location, modern urban infrastructure, and existing cultural and historical values to create attractive tourism products.
The success of the project will not only help improve the quality of tourism services but also contribute to promoting the image of Thủ Đức City as an attractive destination, in line with sustainable and smart tourism trends. At the same time, it also opens up opportunities to attract investment resources from both domestic and foreign sources, contributing to local economic development, creating jobs for residents, and improving the quality of life. With the companionship of experts, researchers, businesses, and local authorities, the Thủ Đức City tourism development project promises to bring about positive changes, helping the city advance further on the tourism map of Vietnam and the region.
